IM works with 10 communities of faith, including Baha’i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Unitarian Universalist and Zoroastrian. Together they provide the foundation upon which IM provides direct service, builds collaborative partnerships to serve seniors and refugees, and channels the faith community's preparedness and response to disaster. IM believes that through service and dialogue it is possible for very diverse people to come to know one another and to find common ground, while maintaining their personal beliefs and keeping their cultures intact. IM manifests the strength of share beliefs through four areas of service to the Greater Houston community:
