Grass Fire in Northwest Harris County Contained

(Harris County, TX) -- The Harris County Fire Marshal’s office reports that the grass fire in Northwest Harris County has been contained.
Strong winds contributed to the spread of the fire at the 17,000 block of Hafer Rd.

The fire burned about 50 acres and investigators are looking into the possible cause.

Authorities said two houses were damaged by the flames, but no evacuations were ordered.

One firefighter was transported from the scene with heat exhaustion. No other injuries have been reported.

The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HCOHSEM) has activated its Emergency Operations Center and is monitoring the Red Flag Warnings in conjunction with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.

HCOHSEM remains at Level 3 (Increased Readiness) and will issue further bulletins as circumstances warrant.
